Ex-Bavarian star Owen Hargreaves suggests showing live pictures from the changing rooms. The TV stations themselves are also taking up the idea.

Will TV viewers in England be able to follow their stars all the way into the changing rooms in future? Not only Owen Hargreaves can imagine this.

As the Daily Mail reports, the TV stations BT-Sports, for which the former Bavarian star works as an expert, and Sky Sports want to discuss the idea as early as next month.

Hargreaves: “Largest TV show in history”
Hargreaves’ model for this is the Netflix documentary “The Last Dance” around Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. Filming the coaches’ speeches, emotions and discussions in the booths could create legendary images that could be meaningful to fans years from now, says the former England international: “The biggest TV show would take place in the football booth.

On Monday, TV stations plan to hold initial talks with Premier League clubs about the locker-room cameras. Hargreaves strongly promotes his idea, but at the same time damps expectations: “I don’t think you’ll ever see anything better. But it is not realistic. I don’t think the teams will go for it.”

The skepticism of the 42-time international is well founded. Legendary cabin scenes have already been released in documentaries such as “All or Nothing” about Manchester City or the German classic “Deutschland, ein Sommermärchen” about the 2006 World Cup. However, these were filtered out of hours of material and edited.

Klopp rejects cabin cameras
Critics therefore fear that live images from the booth would also make non-transmittable content visible. After all, especially in sport, negative emotions are also shown and questionable television content can be brought to light. The extent to which cabin cameras are compatible with the privacy of the players is also highly questionable.
