At BVB, Mario Götze must continue to be satisfied with the bank. Coach Lucien Favre gives him little hope that this will change soon.
With Emre Can, Axel Witsel and Gio Reyna, BVB were three midfielders short last weekend, and Jadon Sancho was only on the bench at first – but Mario Götze still didn’t stand a chance.
The 2014 world champions’ goalscorer is completely written off under coach Lucien Favre. In the final phase against Schalke, when the score was already 4-0, the Swiss player took him for three minutes.
In the second half, Götze only has three short appearances with 17 minutes on the clock. This season, the Rio hero only had 504 Bundesliga minutes on the pitch.

“We’re playing 3-4-3 at the moment. I spoke to him clearly. It’s not the ideal system for him. You just have to tell the truth. He can still play half left or half right. But we have a lot of good players and count on everyone,” said the BVB coach at the press conference before the game against VfL Wolfsburg.
On Saturday, Götze will once again be sitting on the bench. Two midfielders will return to the team in Can and Reyna. Thorgan Hazard advertised himself with a good performance in the derby (one goal) and Julian Brandt is seeded.
Götzes time at BVB is coming to an end. The expiring contract will definitely not be extended beyond the summer. His new advisor, Reza Fazeli, is therefore intensively sounding out the market and looking around the country, especially in Spain and Italy.
