England makes UEFA plan void

Because the restart plans of the English Premier League are accompanied by big question marks, the associated deadline of the UEFA is probably also waste.

Europe’s football association actually wanted clarity from all leagues about how they plan to restart in the middle of the Corona pandemic. Now, however, the English Premier League is upsetting UEFA’s timetable.

As the Daily Mail reports, UEFA President Aleksandar Ceferin is now prepared to move back the deadline of 25 May. By that date, all leagues should have presented him with their plans for resuming matches and completing the suspended seasons.

Due to the continuing uncertainties of the “Project Restart”, UEFA has softened its line in order not to aggravate the delicate situation with additional pressure. According to the report, there is an understanding for the complex situation.

The Premier League can now hope for the planned resumption of play in June: The British government announced on Monday that it would be able to restart elite football in England on 1 June without spectators. The prerequisite for this is, however, that sufficient progress has been made in the fight against the corona virus by that date – which is again a big question mark.
