Sky is reacting to the new start of the Bundesliga and will show the Bundesliga conference on free TV. The fans of the 2nd league can also be happy.

The Saturday conference of the Bundesliga games will be broadcast on May 16 by pay-TV channel Sky on Sky Sport News HD in free-to-air TV.

This was announced by the pay-TV station on Thursday. Also on SSNHD, the conference of the second division games will be broadcast on 17 May on free TV.

Managing Director Christian Seifert of the German Soccer League (DFL) had already given the fans hopes for Bundesliga games on free TV at a press conference. “This is a very special situation, our media partners know that too. The main rights holder Sky in particular is also planning certain measures,” Seifert emphasized.

Politicians in particular had pressed for some matches to be shown on free-TV when the Bundesliga restarts on 16 May, so as to avoid crowds of fans with a Sky subscription.

Sky sports boss Jacques Raynaud stressed: “The comeback of the Bundesliga is good news for our customers and football fans. We are grateful that our program for people in this challenging situation will help us to provide the best possible entertainment. Sky will make the best out of the comeback games and offer viewers a special TV experience”.
