Mauricio Pochettino could not complete his mission at the Tottenham Hotspur. That’s why the coach has a very big wish.

Mauricio Pochettino is far from finished with the chapter Tottenham Hotspur.

Even many months after his leave of absence, the Argentinian coach is still thinking back to his time with the top English club – with a little melancholy and a big wish.

“Clearly, since the day I left the club, it has been my dream to return one day and finish our unfinished work,” he explained in a video interview with BT Sport.

Pochettino had led Tottenham to the Champions League final last season, but had lost 2-0 to Liverpool FC. As his sporting success faded in the next season, he was replaced by Jose Mourinho.

The coach is currently without a job: “Maybe in five years, maybe in ten years, but before I die I want to coach Tottenham again and try to win a title.” He wants to feel what it means to win a title with the Spurs “because the fans are so incredible”. He wants to repay the affection he has received in five years with Tottenham.

Nevertheless, he said he was ready for a new challenge, having recently been associated with Newcastle United among others. “But deep down I want to come back one day because I believe that this club is special. The fans are so special.”
