Neymar’s provocative cheers after his goal against BVB have a history. As one team-mate now reveals, the Brazilian has informed his team-mates in advance.
It was the big excitement in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 between Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund.
After his goal against BVB, Neymar imitated the cheers of Erling Haaland by squatting on the grass and lingering in a meditative position.
His team-mates had already known beforehand that the Brazilian would cheer like this if the worst came to the worst.
Marquinhos: “Neymar always responds to provocation
“He told us he wanted to provoke Haaland. He likes that kind of thing. Neymar always responds to provocation,” said team-mate Marquinhos in an interview on the YouTube channel Desimpedidos.
“I asked him (Neymar, the editor) to stay until the end of the game. ‘Leave me, don’t stop me’, he replied before he scored and cheered like that.”
Neymar must have found it a personal insult that Haaland had posted a photo of himself on Snapchat after the 2-1 victory in the first leg – with the writing of Paris and the words: “My city, not yours”.
Was Haaland-Post a fake?
It is allegedly not clear whether the mail actually came from the Norwegian or whether it was just a fake mail.
In any case, after the 2-0 victory and the resulting progress of the French, Neymar wrote on Instagram: “Paris is our city, not yours!
