With that statement on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Arsenal legend Ian Wright caused a stir at Premier League Productions.

For Wright, the ex-Dortmund is the all-important man in Mikel Arteta’s team. “If you took your goals out of this team, they would be in huge trouble,” Wright explained.

Aubameyang inherit Xhaka as captain
Aubameyang is nevertheless the club’s top scorer. In the current season he has scored 20 times in 32 games. Earlier this season, he even took over the captain’s armband for the Gunners after Granite Xhaka had tangled with their own fans.

However, he has not yet been able to play in the Champions League with the Premier League club. Not least because of this, his future remains uncertain. His contract expires in 2021. Coach Arteta is hoping the 30-year-old centre-forward will stay on.

Is Aubameyang leaving Arsenal?
“It’s very simple for me: I want to keep him at all costs,” the Spaniard last said.

For the head coach, the ex-Dortmunder is indispensable. “We definitely need to get together before the end of the season and talk about what we want and what he wants,” Arteta continued.

Legend Wright does not want to be in Aubameyang’s shoes when it comes to the future. “I just hope that the love he has for the club and the fans is enough for him,” the legend said.
