Luka Jovic travels to Serbia, although he is supposed to be in quarantine with Real Madrid because of the corona virus. Now he is reacting to the criticism.

Luka Jovic has hardly made any headlines in the sports world since joining Real Madrid.

And yet the 22-year-old Serb is currently the royal who determines the reporting – albeit involuntarily.

The reason for the fuss: a visit to his homeland. What would normally be hardly worth mentioning takes on a political dimension in times of the Corona crisis. Jovic had flown to Serbia despite a quarantine imposed on all Real professionals following a positive finding of a basketball player of the Royal.

Jovic gets headwind at home
In addition, Serbian media reported that Jovic left the house in his home country, which is currently strictly prohibited. Especially in his home country the former player of Eintracht Frankfurt reaped a lot of headwind, according to the state news agency Tanjug the Serbian public prosecutor’s office even filed criminal charges against Jovic. Jovic should have stayed isolated for two weeks and not been allowed to go out on the streets at all. The striker could even face a prison sentence.

The Serbian media did not spare any criticism of Jovic. “Hey, boy! Do you want to kill us all?”, the daily Kurir asked. Previously all Serbs from abroad had been asked not to return home. Spain is also considered a risk area.

But what’s the point of the reports?
On Wednesday night, Jovic spoke up about Instagram himself and put the rumors to rest. “I find it a great pity that I am the main topic of discussion these days. I think it’s a great pity that people are constantly writing about me – and not about those who are the protagonists in this fight in this crisis: the doctors and everyone who works in the health sector,” said Jovic.

He said he had had a negative COVID 19 test in Madrid. That is why he decided to go to Serbia, support his people and be close to his family. “When I arrived in Serbia, I was tested again. The test was negative,” wrote Jovic.

In addition, he said that in Spain it was allowed to buy or buy something in pharmacies, but not in Serbia. But Jovic does not see the blame for his misconduct on himself. Rather, he feels sorry “that some people did not do their job professionally and did not give me specific instructions on how to behave during my isolation”.

Jovic concluded his statement with an apology: “I apologize to anyone I may have harmed or put in danger. I hope that we can get through this together.”Luka Jovic travels to Serbia, although he is supposed to be in quarantine with Real Madrid because of the corona virus.
