UEFA postpones CL and EL matches

The matches in the Champions League and Europa League next week will not take place. This is stated in a communication from UEFA.

UEFA has cancelled the upcoming Champions League and Europa League matches for next week due to the corona virus. The matches have been postponed for the time being. This was announced by the association on Friday morning.

The matches in UEFA’s other international club competitions will also be postponed, as will the scheduled draws for the quarter-finals. These include the quarter-finals in the UEFA Youth League.

Matches from Bayern, Leverkusen, Frankfurt and Wolfsburg affected
This means that the return match of FC Bayern against FC Chelsea will not be played next Wednesday. The games in Manchester, Turin and Barcelona will also be cancelled.

The Europa League will also see the cancellation of the matches scheduled for Thursday between Bayer Leverkusen (against Glasgow Rangers), Eintracht Frankfurt (against FC Basel) and VfL Wolfsburg (near Shakhtjor Donetsk).

On Thursday evening it was announced that Callum Hudson-Odoi of Chelsea FC tested positive. The Blues had lost the first leg of the round of sixteen against Bayern 0:3.
