Valencia confirms five corona cases

In the Spanish La Liga, the first professional footballer has now been killed. Ezequiel Garay of FC Valencia has tested positive for the corona virus.

The Spanish first division football club FC Valencia has confirmed five cases of corona within the team and the support staff.

How many of these positive tests affect players was not disclosed by the club. One of those infected is defender Ezequiel Garay, the 33-year-old confirmed this to Instagram. The Argentinian international is the first player in the Spanish La Liga to test positive.

All five persons are “in good health” according to the club and are in domestic quarantine. Valencia lost to Atalanta Bergamo (3-4) in last week’s second round of the Champions League round of 16.

The first positive corona case in the second Spanish league also occurred on Sunday. The former Hannover professional Jonathas of FC Elche is affected.

On Saturday, two members of the staff of first division club Deportivo Alaves also tested positive. Martin Ortega, manager of the first division club CD Leganes, was also found to have the corona virus.
