Flick demands transfer veto

FC Bayern is doing very well in all competitions with Hansi Flick. Whether he could stay beyond the summer, the coach makes it dependent on several factors.

Coach Hansi Flick apparently also makes his contract extension with Bayern Munich dependent on his ability to influence future transfers.

“When it comes to new recruits and reinforcements, the coach must, in my view, have the right of veto,” the 55-year-old said in an interview with Sport Bild: “It is important to have the right eye there – and also the possibility of rejecting suggestions.

Flick demands dialogue and the right of veto
However, Flick also emphasized that in Bavaria one could “talk about everything in an open dialogue” with regard to transfer plans. In addition, it was also clear “that one cannot base the planning solely on the wishes of a trainer”.

But: “The coach and the players must fit” and represent a “homogeneous entity”, said Flick.

No chance for Nübel?
Flick also spoke about Alexander Nübel. After his demotion to the substitutes’ bench at Schalke 04, the goalkeeper has to cope with the next setback.

At his future club Bayern Munich, the 23-year-old is unlikely to face an open duel with national goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, at least that is what the latest statements by coach Hansi Flick suggest.

New best goalkeeper in the world
“Everyone knows what I think of Manuel. For me he is by far the best goalkeeper in the world, I have not the slightest doubt about that. That’s why there is no alternative for me. Manuel leads the team, gives it the necessary security,” said Flick der Sport Bild.

When asked, the 55-year-old merely attested that he was “a young, talented goalkeeper”.

Interest from other clubs
The former assistant to national coach Joachim Löw also confirmed inquiries from other clubs, “certainly interesting ones too”. This pleases him, “because it shows a certain appreciation”.

But Flick emphasized once again that he “had a lot of fun” with the coaching work in Munich. But there are also “one or two things that strike me,” said Flick, “but first I want to discuss this openly with those responsible.
