Munich – Paris Saint-Germain is in the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating BVB. Neymar and Co. took revenge and celebrated gloating.
So much for ghost games, emotions are running high!
On Wednesday evening in Paris, it was not only in front of the stadium, where thousands of PSG supporters threw a pyro party, but also on the pitch as BVB lost 2-0 to PSG.
Already after the hosts’ first goal, the first poison dart flew in the direction of the Dortmunders. Goalscorer Neymar copied the cheers BVB shooting star Erling Haaland had shown in the black-yellow side’s 2-1 first leg victory: the Brazilian sat down on the grass and pretended to meditate.
According to information from SportBild, the main topic was an Instagram post from BVB the day before the game. There, the black and yellow had placed Haaland in that same jubilant position in front of the Eifel Tower, the symbol of the city of Paris.
German PSG star Thilo Kehrer defended his team-mate after the game. “It’s part of the business to return the favour a little,” said the Sky defender. “You can discuss whether or not you have to. But I think that’s part of it somewhere. There are emotions involved, and you don’t have to hide them,” said the 23-year-old.
Did PSG stars insult BVB?
What was far more worthy of discussion, however, was what happened after Juan Bernat’s second goal, according to Spanish media reports. According to Movistar, the TV broadcast showed how Ángel di María insulted the BVB in the worst possible way.
“We must score six or seven goals. We’re going to humiliate those sons of bitches,” he is said to have shouted to his teammates in jubilation.
Striker Mauro Icardi is said to have used similarly obscene words (“hijas de puta”) after the final whistle. “Now let the sons of bitches celebrate,” was put into the mouth of the Argentinian who was not on duty.

A little later Haaland and its cheers became the target of malice again. The entire PSG team was photographed first on the course and later in the cabin while imitating a meditation.
PSG tweeted a corresponding picture during the night with the headline: “And breathe deeply.”
