For FC Augsburg there is nothing to be gained in the duel with the Bavarians. FCA-keeper Andreas Luthe still can’t resist a side blow against the Munich team.
FC Augsburg has started the trip home from Munich without points.
The Swabians had nothing to gain in the 2-0 defeat against FC Bayern Munich, but the record champions had a long time of trouble. Thomas Müller and Leon Goretzka saved the Bavarians from a failed party for the 120th club birthday with their goals in the second half.
Despite the defeat, FCA keeper Andreas Luthe did not let a side blow against the leader of the league go. “I almost fell asleep in the first half,” said the 32-year-old after the game at Sky. He continued: “If you don’t get any balls as a goalkeeper, you almost get a little cold again. So I didn’t have a good feeling. In the second half we knew there was a little bit more coming.”

But the man from Velbert also acknowledged the performance of the landlords after the break. “In the end, it’s already the quality of Bavaria. This ball from Boa (Jerome Boateng, editor’s note) in there, one knows Thomas Müller for these runs. They are just doing very, very well.”
Out of the back it was also possible for them to make the 1:1, said Luthe. “Then maybe you can defend it to a draw by. That way, the rooms in the back open up naturally and you eat the 2-0. All in all, it was a decent game that had something in it.”
The goalkeeper of the Swabians, who was allowed to stand between the posts from the beginning, prevented further goals of the Munich team. “Just before the game, the coach told me. I’m glad I played today, I really have to say,” Luthe explained, adding: “I really, really enjoy playing with the boys and have offered my services for weeks and months in training. That paid off in the end.” Whether he remains number one near Augsburg, however, he does not know.
