Bavarian boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is still horrified by the events surrounding Dietmar Hopp. He explains first measures and announces penalties.

On Saturday, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stood side by side with Dietmar Hopp on the sidelines.

The events surrounding the Hetz banners against the Hoffenheim patron had visibly affected the Bavarian boss.

On Monday, the 64-year-old spoke again about the poster scandal in an interview with the Bild:

Rummage about…

… the person Dietmar Hopp as an enemy image: “We wrote to each other again on Saturday evening after I was back in Munich. I have the impression that Hopp must be used as a synonym for the situation, although this is actually about collective punishment. This was pronounced by the DFB, not by Hopp. I know him as an absolute man of honour who has invested a lot of money in the sport. Not out of self-interest, but to do something good for his region. That’s why I found the behaviour out of place. I have apologised to him, but I am still of the opinion that there is actually nothing to apologise for. I hope that something like this never happens again at FC Bayern.

… the current state of investigation of the perpetrators: “I have just come from a board meeting, in which Herbert Hainer (Bavaria president, editor’s note) also participated. We have decided that we will establish a commission, because we cannot simply move on to the agenda. We will of course also cooperate fully with the investigation team of the Mannheim police. And our block was filmed. All those who can be identified must expect to be punished by Bavaria…. the type of punishment: “We also had a lawyer with us at the meeting. FC Bayern has the civil law jurisdiction and we never want to see this ugly face again. We just had our 120th anniversary, then the game against Chelsea and also against Hoffenheim we showed a great performance. All that was taken ad absurdum by those who missed out in the corner. We won’t accept that.

Rummenigge: Bavaria founds Commission
… Schalke’s announcement that he intends to leave the pitch in the event of further incidents, regardless of the score: “That is a consistent attitude Schalke has shown. We have all recognised that the three-step plan procedure does not work like that. It gives the fans the chance to do things like that not just once, but twice. That’s not what we want, that there should be a circus twice. We should just basically stop this circus. I go to the stadium to enjoy the game and not to experience some showdown. For the game on Tuesday, it will be important that we agree on principle. My colleague on the board, Jan-Christian Dreesen, will talk to the Schalker side about how we might proceed. But I have at least the faint hope that the subject of collective punishment has now been worked off a little.

… possible solutions to the problem: “We have formed this commission, which will deal with the measures It is now important to find out what we can do. We have always talked a lot and I am a friend of dialogue. But it must also be said that dialogue has not brought anything. We are on a one-way street in which the clubs only give and the fans only take. It’s all about a demonstration of power. They want to show the clubs and associations that they have power in the stadiums.”

… criticism of controversial sponsorship deals: “The criticism is not new. I can only say in principle from our experience with Qatar Airways: since Qatar has been involved with football, a fundamental positive effect can be seen there. The dialogue has had a positive effect there and I would hope the same for the Ultras.
