Before the match against FC Chelsea, Leon Goretzka returns to FC Bayern team training. But he does not yet appear to be 100 percent fit.

Bayern Munich will probably be able to rely on Leon Goretzka in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 on Tuesday against FC Chelsea.

The international player, after overcoming muscular problems, took part in the final training session on Monday, which the German record champion completed on Säbener Strasse. There the professional coach Hansi Flick serenaded the 55th birthday boy.

However, during the session, Goretzka was clearly noticed that he is not yet completely fit again. So he did all the exercises, but some of them not 100 percent.

Rummenigge gives quarter-final entry as clear goal
Goretzka was also in the 19-man squad that the Bavarians released shortly before the team’s departure on Monday afternoon. As expected, Javi Martínez was not represented. Although the defensive specialist also practised with his colleagues, an assignment in London is still too early for him after his thigh injury. Also not available are defence chief Niklas Süle and Ivan Perisic.

“Our goal is to reach the quarter-finals,” said CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge before the sponsor plane took off: “The coach will come up with some tactical ideas. We are well prepared and know what to expect.

Chelsea are an “interesting team,” he added, and gave “one goal” as the goal: “That was also a bit of a problem last year against Liverpool. The eventual Cup winners only managed a 0-0 draw last season – a 3-1 draw in the second leg meant an early end.
