Hertha BSC is back in crisis after the clap against Cologne. Coach Alexander Nouri cannot explain the heavy bankruptcy against Cologne, the fan annoyance he understands.

The “Big City crisis” at Hertha BSC left Alexander Nouri helpless one day after the crushing bankruptcy and the scornful chants of his own fans.

“Bad and restless”, the interim coach had slept after the fully deserved 0:5 (0:3) clap in the relegation duel against 1 FC Köln, he said on Sunday. He was largely unable to answer the question of why his team is currently staggering helplessly towards the league table.

“It is difficult to find the right explanation for this,” said Nouri. That might not be enough for him in the race to keep his class. Due to the nature of the defeat against the Domstadters, some media already speculated about an early replacement of the transition coach, who had jumped in out of the blue the week before after Jürgen Klinsmann’s departure.

“I don’t worry about that at all,” said Nouri. According to his own statement, he only spoke briefly with managing director Michael Preetz after the Cologne match. As the kicker reports, Nouri will definitely sit on the bench in the next relegation duel at Fortuna Düsseldorf on Friday. A more detailed analysis of the Cologne game should follow at the beginning of the week. There will be serious talks.

Nouri: appearance against Cologne inexplicable
With 26 points, Hertha in 14th place has only a six-point lead on the relegation rankings. So the seriousness of the situation should also dawn on the team. Nouri is convinced of that, who likes to refer to the fighting good performance from the previous week in the 2:1 victory at SC Paderborn.

But that’s exactly why a performance like against Cologne is inexplicable for him. “We had a good training week and couldn’t bring that to the pitch,” he said.

That was to be seen. Cologne had a free hand after counter-attacks and cut through the Berlin lines like butter, and offensively, Hertha themselves were far too seldom on the attack. In the end, Nouri found a possible starting point for an explanation.

In his mind, his team had said goodbye too easily and too quickly after the early deficit of Jhon Cordoba (4th/22nd). “If you’re trailing 2-0, I think something is working when you’re not so solid. But that’s also something that shouldn’t happen to us then,” Nouri admonishes. The Hertha fans felt the same. Shortly before the end of the game, they mocked their team and ironically sang “Oh, how beautiful”. The players then did not go into the east corner as usual.
