“Clown Club” – fierce criticism of Barca

FC Barcelona has to listen to fierce criticism from one of its former players. Christophe Dugarry is severely reproaching the Catalans.

One could say that FC Barcelona is in a difficult phase.

But one could also put it much more drastically. Like former world and European champion Christophe Dugarry, for example.

“It’s a club of clowns,” the Frenchman explained in an interview with the radio station RMC. “They do everything backwards. I have the impression that they have no concept.”

Dugarry, who is now 47, ran for Barca in 1997, but couldn’t make it.

The always opinionated ex-professional did not leave a good hair on the head of his former club: “Barcelona has many problems and the biggest is that the image is bad.”

A club of this size “should really have people with elegance and class”. But “It is indeed a club without class.” The only priority of the president (Josep Maria Bartomeu, editor’s note) is his own re-election.

Criticism of Barcelona: “Did very poor shopping”
It’s above all the transfer policy that bothers him: “They buy coutinho or dembélé, they buy boys and then sell them.” In every transfer window there’s a problem. “They’ve been buying very badly since Xavi and Iniesta left.”

Dugarry’s scathing record follows a public disagreement between Barcelona’s sports director Éric Abidal and superstar Lionel Messi.
