London – Injured star striker Harry Kane of Champions League finalist Tottenham Hotspur has to undergo surgery and is therefore missing in the round of 16 against Bundesliga autumn champion RB Leipzig (February 19/March 10). As Spurs from the English Premier League announced on Thursday, the English national football player is suffering from a tear in his left thigh muscles and will be out of the tournament until April.
The 26-year-old had suffered the injury on New Year’s Day in a league match at FC Southampton (0-1). Kane has scored eleven goals and prepared two in 20 league games during the current season for the North London club, which is coached by team manager Jose Mourinho. In the Champions League he scored six goals in five games.
