Christoph Kramer continues to do without a safety helmet despite his third serious head injury. This would hinder him too much in the field.

Despite what is now his third serious head injury in his career, Christoph Kramer will continue to do without a helmet in the future.

“I’m not the type of person who would hinder me more than help me. I will continue to compete without fear,” the Gladbach native explained in an interview with Bild.

Most recently, the 28-year-old suffered another minor head injury during the top match between RB Leipzig and Borussia Mönchengladbach and was forced to retire early.

Kramer injures his head in World Cup final
Kramer’s commitment to the 2014 World Cup final is still unforgotten, and after a clash with Ezequiel Garay he asked referee Nicola Rizzoli twice whether this was the World Cup final. Rizzoli then asked captain Bastian Schweinsteiger to have Kramer replaced.

To this day, he cannot remember the half hour he spent on the pitch.

The most famous helmet wearer in soccer was former Czech national goalkeeper Petr Cech. In the Bundesliga, Paderborn’s captain Klaus Gjasula wears a head protection.
