Ousmane Dembélé will travel to Finland on Tuesday to undergo surgery. There he will be treated by a luminary of sports medicine.

French world champion Ousmane Dembelé will undergo surgery for a torn muscle in his right thigh. This was announced by Spanish champion FC Barcelona on Thursday. According to the announcement, the operation will take place on 11 February in Turku, Finland.

Dembélé, who moved from Borussia Dortmund to Barcelona two and a half years ago, had suffered the injury during training on Monday. The offensive player even has to fear for his participation in the European Championship finals (June 12 to July 12).

Only a few days ago, the 22-year-old had returned to team training after recovering from a protracted thigh injury from the Champions League group game against Dortmund at the end of November. His comeback was scheduled for February. Already in the first period of the current season, he had been absent for five weeks due to a wound in his left thigh.

Finnish specialist already operated on Pep Guardiola
In Turku Dembélé will be operated on by Sakari Orava. The Finn is a renowned, world-renowned doctor whose hands have treated well-known stars of the sports world. David Beckham, Marco van Basten, Didier Deschamps and Pep Guardiola are just some of the footballers who have already trusted the now 74-year-old.

Orava treated an injury similar to the one Dembélé once treated with Guardiola. In a recent interview with Spanish magazine El Mundo, the doctor stressed that the Guardiola case was one of the most complicated of his 20,000 surgeries. “I operated on him in Barcelona and after four months it was perfect.”
