Munich – Only recently Lionel Messi was critical of sports director Eric Abidal’s statements about the dismissal of ex-Barca coach Valverde. Now he receives support.

Superstar Lionel Messi had sharply criticized sports director Eric Abidal on Tuesday after the Frenchman accused the players of having a part in the dismissal of Ernesto Valverde.
Now left-back Jordi Alba, the next Barca star, countered Abidal’s accusation.
“This club is already being pelted with enough shit from the outside. We shouldn’t throw shit at ourselves,” says the Spanish international.
He added: “Abidal was a player himself and the fans love him. He should know what it looks like in a cubicle and how the players feel.”
Apart from the dispute between the French sports director and the team, things are not going well for the Catalans in sporting terms either. They lost 1-0 to Athletic Bilbao in the Copa quarter-finals and are three points behind the leaders and arch-rivals Real Madrid in the league.
