The round of sixteen in the DFB Cup is on! After a thrilling Tuesday evening with victories by Schalke, Bremen, Frankfurt and Düsseldorf, the remaining four matches are scheduled for Wednesday. In our live blog you can find the results as well as the most important information about all games at a glance.

THE ROUND OF SIXTEEN MATCHES ON WEDNESDAY
18:30: Bayer 04 Leverkusen – VfB Stuttgart

18:30: SC Verl – 1st FC Union Berlin

20:45: FC Bayern Munich – TSG Hoffenheim

20:45: 1st FC Saarbrücken – Karlsruher SC

Sports Club Verl – 1st FC Union Berlin

For the rising star from Berlin-Köpenick the role changes in a special way. On Saturday, coach Urs Fischer’s team was defeated by the offensive power of Borussia Dortmund. In the game at the regional league team from Verl, the Ironmen are the clear favourites. Fischer leaves it open whether he will rotate within his team: There could be one or the other change, emphasized the Union Coach. “But I’ve often said that as a player you must be able to survive an English week.”

1st FC Saarbrücken – Karlsruher SC

Christian Eichner faces a special task on his coaching debut for Karlsruher SC: He has to overcome the hurdle of 1st FC Saarbrücken in the cup round of 16. The Saarlanders, who play for promotion in the regional league, have already knocked out 1 FC Köln. The 37-year-old former FC professional Eichner only had a few days left after starting work with the Badeners to prepare the promoted team for the task. Contrary to the league enterprise however the new KSC coach in the cup can fall back to Damian Rossbbach. The defender had seen the red card in the match against Holstein Kiel. The DFB sports court suspended him for three second league games.

FC Bayern Munich – TSG 1899 Hoffenheim

Before the cup match against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim Hansi Flick has to do without Ivan Perisic. The FC Bayern Munich coach explained before Wednesday’s match: “Ivan has a fracture in his outer ankle. That means four weeks until it heals.” This means that an important offensive player will fall against the Kraichgauer, who will again rotate in goal. While the use of keeper Philipp Pentke is assured, according to Hoffenheim coach Alfred Schreuder, there is a question mark behind that of Sargis Adamyan.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen – VfB Stuttgart

He is still suspended in the league, but in the DFB Cup Exequiel Palacios could be used for his new club for the first time. Ahead of the Cup duel with second-league club VfB Stuttgart, Bayer coach Peter Bosz said of the Argentinian: “I see him as a full-fledged force. He had integrated very quickly and very well. Charles Aranguiz (calf problems) and Julian Baumgartlinger (blow to the knee) will miss the match against the Swabians. Stuttgart plans to play Leverkusen with goalkeeper Fabian Bredlow, but without Marc-Oliver Kempf, who is suffering from a broken jaw. The former Leverkusen player Gonzalo Castro is also missing from VfB.
