Paco Alcácer made his debut for FC Villarreal after his departure from Borussia Dortmund – and scored promptly.

The Spanish striker scored the goal to give his new club a 1-0 lead (45.+1) against CA Osasuna in the Primera Division in a 3-1 (1-0) draw. After a pass from his team-mate Manuel Trigueros, Alcacer ran alone towards the goalkeeper and made a deliberate entry. Alcacer was on the field from the beginning.

The 26-year-old returned home on Thursday for just under 30 million euros including bonus payments from BVB, for whom he had scored 26 goals in 47 compulsory matches. At Villarreal, Alcacer was given a contract until June 2025, according to the Spaniards.

Ruben Pena (54th) and Santi Cazorla (59th) by penalty kick scored the other goals for the seventh-placed team in the Spanish League. Aridane (48.) had provided the interim equaliser.

In his first season in the BVB jersey, Alcácer impressed with 18 goals in 26 Bundesliga appearances, although he was only used as a wild card on 15 occasions.
