Former world and European champion Xavi Hernández explained his refusal to join FC Barcelona.
The long-time midfield director of the top club from Catalonia was a hot candidate in the search for a coach, but declined.
“Yes, I received an offer from Barcelona in the presence of Éric Abidal and Oscar Grau, but I didn’t accept it because it’s too early for me to coach Barcelona,” the 39-year-old said at a press conference at his club Al Sadd Sports Club in Qatar, where he has been coaching since July.
Xavi had played for Barca between 1998 and 2015. Although now was obviously not the right time, he made it clear: “It will still be my dream to be a Barca coach in the future.
