Real Madrid are at the top of the table with a triple win over Sevilla. The Royal squad was not very offensive. But Casemiro strikes twice.

A week after winning the Supercup in faraway Saudi Arabia, Spain’s record-breaking Real Madrid continued their winning streak at home. With a 2-1 (0-0) win in their top game against Sevilla FC, the Real Madrid took the top spot in La Liga for at least one night.

Casemiro was the winner with two goals (57th-69th) for the Madrid side, who won 4-1 on penalties against local rivals Atlético in last Sunday’s Supercopa final, while former Gladbach-based Luuk de Jong equalised for the fourth-placed Sevilla (64th). However, arch-rivals FC Barcelona could pass by again on Sunday (21:00) with a win against FC Granada. Real have been undefeated for eleven league games.

City rivals Atlético disappointed and surprisingly lost 2-0 to Basque club SD Eibar.
