Mourinho on Kane’s return: Maybe next season

Tottenham coach Jose Mourinho is rather pessimistic about a prognosis for the return of his star striker Harry Kane after his thigh operation. Asked about the 26-year-old’s premature return, Mourinho said at a press conference that there was no news: “We expect him to be out of the game until mid-April, late April, May, next season. I don’t know.”

Kane suffered a tendon injury to his left thigh in his side’s 1-0 defeat at Southampton FC on 1 January and later left the stadium on crutches. In the last sixteen of the Champions League, the Spurs will meet Bundesliga leaders RB Leipzig on 19 February and 10 March.

It could also be questionable whether England’s national team captain Kane will play in the European Championship finals this summer. Kane, who has scored 32 goals in 45 matches in the “Three Lions” jersey, is considered indispensable in the team of national coach Gareth Southgate.
