Former Bayern coach Pep Guardiola has denied rumours of an early retirement from the English championship Manchester City.

“I’m staying 100 per cent unless they fire me,” Guardiola said before the Premier League game against Crystal Palace. “I’ve said it many times before. That has nothing to do with winning the last two games. I’m sorry, but I will stay. (…) But even if things go badly – I’m not going anywhere.”

Defending champions Man City were already 14 points behind leaders Liverpool, who had played one game less than Citizens before the 23rd Premier League matchday. But Guardiola will not let that put them off their game. “No coach always wins,” he said. “We’ve lost a few games, so now we have to do what we can to be better. It’s that simple.”
